Introduction

Recently, Mojang’s new game, which has been in development for two years under the codename SpiceWood, has been leaked. Today, we finally know what it is: Minecraft Dungeons 2! In this article, I will share leaked images, information, and much more!

What is SpiceWood?

SpiceWood was the codename assigned to this project. Large game projects often use codenames, and in this case, it was given to Minecraft Dungeons 2. This is not the first time we have heard of this name—over a year ago, some insiders mentioned it, though without confirming it was the sequel to Dungeons.

An Unnecessary Sequel?

NO, Minecraft Dungeons was highly praised by casual players but received some criticism from hardcore Diablo fans. After releasing multiple DLCs and stopping updates a year ago (its last update was the Tower Challenges), fans were eager for more content. A sequel is definitely a good and necessary step.

Recent Failures

Mojang has not had much success with its recent Minecraft spin-offs. Their last two releases were Minecraft Legends and Minecraft Earth. Legends turned out to be a mediocre game, while Earth suffered from poor timing, launching just months before the pandemic.

Predictions

I like making predictions, and based on what we’ve seen, it looks like the game will follow many of the same mechanics as the original Minecraft Dungeons, such as the three-slot interface, magic, and health system.

Obviously, it will come with improvements, possibly including new movement options or additional character classes. We will have to wait and see. The only thing I cannot guarantee but sincerely hope does not appear is a marketplace. A game like this does not need a marketplace for buying items—it is a co-op PvE game for four or more players to complete levels, not an online store. Let’s hope they avoid that.

Based on leaks, it appears the game will feature different themed zones, including:

Conclusion

The Dungeons spin-off is something I hope will be just as good, if not better, than the first game. Now, all that’s left is to wait.

All these questions will be answered on March 22, during the upcoming Minecraft Live 2025, where they will likely present this new game.

With nothing more to add, thank you very much for reading. See you next time!
