Install Add-Ons
Welcome to the complete installation guide for Minecraft Bedrock Add-Ons. Select your platform below and follow the expanded step-by-step instructions to correctly install, activate, and troubleshoot your Add-Ons.

Important! This installation method works for add-ons, not mods. Please make sure you are installing an add-on; mods are not supported.
Windows Installation
Installing Add-Ons on Windows (PC) is usually the easiest method since Minecraft automatically imports compatible files. Follow this extended guide:
- Download the Add-On from a trusted source such as TRMC-ADDONS, MCPEDL, or an official distributor. Make sure the file is either .mcpack or .mcaddon.
- Verify that your browser has saved the file correctly. Some browsers rename .mcpack files to .zip.
- If the file ends in .zip, manually rename it to .mcpack or .mcaddon.
- Ensure Windows Explorer is set to show file extensions to avoid renaming errors.
- Double-click the .mcpack or .mcaddon file. Minecraft Bedrock Edition should automatically open and display an “Import Started” message.
- Wait for the confirmation message “Import Successful”. If you see “Import Failed”, try:
- Re-downloading the file (corrupt download).
- Restarting Minecraft.
- Checking that you do not have duplicate packs with the same UUID.
- Open Minecraft and go to:
Play → Create New → Create New World
or edit an existing world. - Navigate to Resource Packs and Behavior Packs. You should see your imported Add-On under “My Packs”.
- Click “Activate” on both packs (if the Add-On uses both).
- Ensure that no old or incompatible versions are activated at the same time.
- If required by the Add-On, scroll down to the Experiments section and enable:
- Holiday Creator Features
- Upcoming Creator Features
- Beta APIs
- Molang Features
- Custom Biomes (if needed)
Warning: Experimental features may disable achievements for that world.
- Generate the world. If the Add-On modifies mobs, items, or terrain, ensure that:
- Game Mode and Difficulty settings match the pack’s requirements.
- Cheats are ON if the pack needs them for testing.
- If something doesn’t load correctly:
- Return to the world settings and re-activate the packs.
- Move the pack to the top of the load order (priority).
- Delete cached packs from %LocalAppData%/Packages /Microsoft.MinecraftUWP/ LocalState/games/com.mojang.
- For creators testing multiple versions: keep backups of your com.mojang folder in case an Add-On breaks your worlds.
Android Installation
Android supports Add-Ons directly, but some files may come in ZIP form and require conversion. Follow this extended guide:
- Download your Add-On from TRMC-ADDONS, MCPEDL, or another reliable source. Avoid unknown websites to prevent malware.
- Check the file format:
- If it is .mcpack or .mcaddon, you can normally tap it to import it directly.
- If it is .zip, you must convert it.
- Install the app Zip To MCpack Converter from Google Play:
Zip To MCpack Converter - Open the converter app and tap OPEN file explorer.
- Browse to your Downloads folder and select the file.
- If the file is a ZIP:
- The converter will automatically create a valid .mcpack or .mcaddon.
- Confirm the generated file name does not contain extra numbers or spaces.
- Tap Open Minecraft. Minecraft will launch and start importing the pack.
If Minecraft does not appear:- Ensure Minecraft Bedrock is installed from Google Play.
- Restart your device.
- Open or create a world and activate your packs under:
Resource Packs and Behavior Packs. - Enable required experimental features if the Add-On adds:
- Custom items
- Custom mobs
- New animations
- Advanced scripting
- Troubleshooting:
- If textures are “pink and black”, reinstall the resource pack.
- If mobs are missing, enable Experimental Features.
- If the pack does not appear, clear Minecraft’s storage (not worlds!) and retry.
iOS Installation
iOS handles Add-Ons differently due to system restrictions. Follow this detailed installation procedure:
- Download the Add-On file (.mcpack or .mcaddon) using Safari or another trusted browser.
- Open the Files app and locate the downloaded file in the “Downloads” folder.
- If the file is a ZIP:
- Tap it to extract it.
- Rename the extracted file or folder to .mcpack or .mcaddon depending on its structure.
- Tap the Add-On file and select Open in Minecraft. Minecraft will open and begin importing the Add-On.
- Wait for the “Import Successful” message. If you see “Failed to Import”:
- Ensure the file is not partially downloaded.
- Try using iCloud Drive instead of on-device storage.
- Avoid renaming incorrectly structured ZIPs.
- Create a world or edit an existing one and activate the Add-On under the appropriate pack categories.
- Enable Experimental Features if required. iOS handles experiments the same as Android and PC.
- If Minecraft crashes when loading the world:
- The Add-On may not be supported on your iOS version.
- Try disabling other Add-Ons that may conflict.
- Keep storage space free. iOS may fail to import large packs if device storage is low.
- For consistent performance:
- Restart Minecraft after every Add-On installation.
- Close background applications.
