Modern Furniture Documentation
Modern Furniture features a wide variety of functions and interactive blocks, whose behavior may not be immediately obvious. In this documentation, we provide detailed explanations of each block and its properties!
Tag System
Tags are an addition to functional blocks, representing the main action or feature of the block. This does not mean that the block only has that function, but rather that it is the primary function. The tags and their meanings are as follows:
Interactive
Interactive blocks are blocks that can be clicked or trigger events in some way. They are used for click-based actions and events.
Stackable
Stackable blocks allow players to stack an item or block, enabling multiple blocks to be stored within it.
- To add blocks to its inventory, simply click on the block with the item in hand.
- To determine which block is stored inside, you will need to interpret it by its name.
- To remove items from the block, click on it with your hand, and the item will drop.
Bright
Bright blocks emit light or have attributes that allow them to illuminate. These blocks can typically be toggled on or off with a click. Some may even create additional bright blocks around them.
Seat
Seat blocks allow players to sit on them by clicking. This will generate an entity and automatically seat the player on it. Once the player stands up, the entity will be removed.
Modular
Modular blocks can connect to other blocks of the same style. These blocks will modify their geometry, collision, and properties to properly connect with others.
Configurable
This tag indicates that the block can be modified using the Modern Tool (addon’s tool). By clicking on it, you can completely alter its geometry and properties, changing it to a different state. This is used for blocks with variants.
Interactable Blocks
Although these blocks have tags, their functions are unique. In this section, we will explain everything important to know about them and how they function.
Switch
The switch allows players to remotely turn lights on and off within the Modern Furniture add-on. Its functionality is based on three levels of range:
- Level 1: affects lights up to 6 blocks away.
- Level 2: affects lights up to 11 blocks away.
- Level 3: affects lights over 17 blocks away.
This block can control various types of lighting, including lamps, LED strips, and other compatible light sources in the add-on.
Fireplaces
Fireplaces allow players to ignite them using a flint and steel. Once lit, they will display a fire particle animation. To extinguish the fireplace, simply click it with your hand.
There is also a forked version of the fireplace called the Grill. In addition to the standard fireplace behavior, the Grill emits smoke particles when in use.
Besides these two blocks, there is the Chimney. Initially, the Chimney does not emit smoke. It requires a Fireplace placed below it to be lit in order to start displaying smoke particle animations.
Mirror
The mirror is a block that allows players to "reflect" and view their appearance. It works as follows:
- When you click on the mirror, a /camera command will be executed from the mirror, pointing to the player.
- To stop seeing our POV in this way, we need to move two blocks away from the position where we clicked on the mirror.
Trash Can
The Trash Can is a block used to permanently delete items. Its functionality is simple:
- Just drop items on top of it, and once they touch the block, the items will be destroyed.
- Deleted items cannot be recovered.
Calendar
The Calendar is a simple block capable of toggling the gamerule responsible for displaying the "Days Played" text.
Garage Door
The Garage Door is made up of several blocks that allow you to construct it.
- Garage Door Block: This block is placed at the top of the door frame, with a thickness of just one block.
- Garage Door Lever: This lever is used to raise or lower the garage door. If the garage door blocks are placed at the top of the frame, activating the lever will close the door completely.
Doorbell
The doorbell works similarly to a real-life doorbell. When clicked, it will play a doorbell sound around it.
Piano
When clicked, the piano will play a random note from the available Minecraft sounds. The note played is entirely random with each click.
Microphone Stand
Clicking on the microphone stand will drop a microphone item. This is purely decorative and does not affect gameplay.
Disc Stand
The Disc Stand is capable of storing any music disc (up to version 1.17). To place a disc in the stand, click on it with the disc item in hand. To recover it, click on the stand with your hand.
Cork Board
The Cork Board is an interactive block with an interface, allowing users to write messages on it.
- Add Message: You can write a custom message.
- Delete Message: You can delete any message, even those written by other players.
- Close: This closes the interface.
The core idea behind the Cork Board is to function as a permanent chat. You can place a message, and when you close and reopen the game, the message will still be there for you and all players. All Cork Boards share text information and are not unique to individual blocks.
Curtain
The Curtain is an interactive block designed for 1x1 windows. The idea is to place it at the top of a block to cover it, and you can open or close it by clicking.
Trampoline
The Trampoline is an interactive block that grants the effect of higher jumps. To use it, simply place yourself on top of the block.
