Better Beds Documentation
Better Beds is a Minecraft mod designed to enhance the functionality and customization of beds in the game. This mod introduces various new options and settings for beds, allowing players to personalize their sleeping experience, manage phantom spawning, and accelerate in-game time based on player preferences.
These settings can be accessed through the Bed Settings item, which is exclusively available in the Creative Mode inventory. This documentation covers the settings and customization options available in the Bed Settings menu as of version 1.5.3 of the mod.
Main Form Options
Sleep Options
This button opens the sleep settings menu. It allows players to configure various aspects of sleeping in the game, such as enabling sleep functionality, setting restrictions on when players can sleep, setting a requirement for a percentage of players to use the bed to sleep, and customizing sleep options like clearing the weather or locking this function behind a password.
Accelerate Time Options
This button opens the accelerate time settings menu. It provides options for configuring how accelerating time works in the game. Players can enable or disable accelerate time functionality, set a requirement for a percentage of players to use the bed to accelerate time, and adjust the maximum time acceleration multiplier.
Phantom Spawning Options
This button opens the phantom spawning settings menu. Players can adjust settings related to phantom spawning, such as whether phantom spawning options should be displayed in beds, limiting the number of phantoms that can spawn, setting a time interval between phantom spawns, and locking these options behind a password.
Reenable Natural PhantomSpawning
This button only appears if the game rule doInsomnia is set to false, indicating that phantom spawning is currently disabled. Clicking this button will re-enable natural phantom spawning by setting doInsomnia to true.
Disable Natural Phantom Spawning
This button only appears if the game rule doInsomnia is set to true, indicating that phantom spawning is currently active. Clicking this button will disable natural phantom spawning by setting doInsomnia to false.
Sleep Settings Options
Below are the settings available under the Sleep Settings menu. These options allow players to further customize how sleeping functions within the game.
Enable Sleep Functionality
Toggles the ability for players to use beds for sleeping. If disabled, beds cannot be used to sleep. This does not affect setting spawn points or accelerating time.
Only Allow Sleeping at Night and When Raining
Restricts sleeping to nighttime hours or when it is raining. If enabled, players can only use beds when it is night or raining in the game, mimicking vanilla behavior.
Lock with Password
Locks the sleep settings menu with a password. Players must enter the correct password to sleep. Only the first player needs to input the password; if a percentage of players is required, the rest of the players do not need to input the password.
Password
Field to set or change the password when the "Lock with Password" option is enabled.
Require Percentage of Players to Activate
Determines if a certain percentage of players must be using the bed to sleep. This option is useful for multiplayer games where consensus is needed for certain actions.
Player Activation Percentage
Slider to set the percentage of players that must be using the bed to sleep when the "Require Percentage of Players to Activate" option is enabled.
Clear Weather After Sleeping
Toggles whether the weather should be cleared when players sleep. If enabled, sleeping will result in clear weather once players wake up.
Display Sunrise Option
Toggles the availability of an option to sleep until sunrise. This allows players to wake up at the first light of dawn. If Enable Sleep Functionality is off, this option will not show even if turned on.
Display Morning Option
Toggles the availability of an option to sleep until morning. Players can use this option to wake up after the sun has risen. If Enable Sleep Functionality is off, this option will not show even if turned on.
Display Noon Option
Toggles the availability of an option to sleep until noon. This allows players to sleep through the morning hours and wake up at midday. If Enable Sleep Functionality is off, this option will not show even if turned on.
Display Sunset Option
Toggles the availability of an option to sleep until sunset. Players can use this to wake up just before nightfall. If Enable Sleep Functionality is off, this option will not show even if turned on.
Display Night Option
Toggles the availability of an option to sleep until night. This option allows players to wake up as the night begins. If Enable Sleep Functionality is off, this option will not show even if turned on.
Display Midnight Option
Toggles the availability of an option to sleep until midnight. This lets players wake up at the stroke of midnight. If Enable Sleep Functionality is off, this option will not show even if turned on.
Accelerate Time Settings Options
These settings allow players to customize how the time acceleration feature works when using a bed in the game. Here are the available options:
Enable Accelerate Time Functionality
Toggles the ability for players to select Accelerate Time when using a bed. If disabled, players cannot use the Accelerate Time option.
Lock with Password
Similar to the sleep settings, this option locks the accelerate time option with a password, requiring a password to use Accelerate Time. Only the first player needs to input the password; if a percentage of players is required, the rest of the players do not need to input the password.
Password
Field to set or change the password required for the accelerate time option when the "Lock with Password" option is enabled.
Require Percentage of Players to Activate
Determines if a certain percentage of players must agree to use the bed for time acceleration. Useful for multiplayer settings where group consensus is important.
Player Activation Percentage
Slider to set the required percentage of players needed to activate time acceleration.
Clear Weather After Accelerating Time
Toggles whether to clear the weather after accelerating time. If enabled, the weather will clear after the accelerating time is completed.
Max Multiplier of Time
Slider to set the maximum time multiplier for accelerating time. This controls how much time can be accelerated when waiting.
Phantom Spawning Settings Options
Due to current limitations of the Minecraft API, it is not possible to manually set a player as having "slept" using custom beds like those in the Better Beds mod. As a result, phantom spawning is automatically disabled by default. However, players have control over phantom spawning with various customization options.
Show Phantom Spawning Settings In Beds
Toggles whether user-controlled phantom spawning should be available when using beds. If enabled, players can adjust phantom spawning directly from their beds.
Disable Phantom Spawning while using beds but reenable after use
This toggle controls whether phantom spawning should be temporarily disabled while using beds for actions like sleeping or accelerating time, but automatically reenabled afterward. If enabled, phantom spawning will be turned off whenever players use beds to sleep or wait, and then turned back on once the bed action is complete. This option takes priority over the "Always Disable Phantom Spawning After Use" setting, meaning if both are enabled, this option will override and reenable phantom spawning even if the other option would normally keep it disabled.
Always Disable Phantom Spawning After Use
Toggles whether phantom spawning is automatically disabled after using sleep or accelerate time. If enabled, this prevents continuous phantom spawning without user intervention after using a bed to sleep or accelerate time.
Only Allow Phantom Spawning at Night
Restricts user-controlled phantom spawning to nighttime hours only. If enabled, phantoms will only spawn at night.
Lock with Password
Locks the phantom spawning settings with a password, requiring a password to use phantom spawning.
Password
Field to set or change the password required to use phantom spawning when the "Lock with Password" option is enabled.
Limit Phantom Spawn Number
Toggles whether there is a limit on the number of phantoms that can spawn. If enabled, it limits the number of phantoms that can spawn at once.
Max Phantom Spawn Number
Slider to set the maximum number of phantoms that can spawn when "Limit Phantom Spawn Number" is enabled.
Set Time Between Spawns
Toggles whether there is a required time interval between phantom spawns. If enabled, players can set how much in-game time must pass before phantoms can spawn again.
In-Game Hours
Slider to set the required in-game hours between phantom spawns when "Set Time Between Spawns" is enabled. This determines the cooldown period between phantom spawn events.
